What makes a good cup of coffee? Is it the blended roast or what you put inside of it? Many coffee blends come from all over the world, for example: Kenya, Columbia, Mexico. You can get these roasts almost anywhere in the entire world.
What if we were to travel the world not only to go get these roasts of coffee but to actually spread the Word of God?
I recently returned from a mission trip to Burkina Faso, Africa; although I didn't return with coffee beans I did return with a changed life. After seeing the African people willingly accept our beliefs and medication that we gave them I asked myself, Why can we not do something like this in America?
The answer is simply because we are scared of the reaction to what others will say or do to us when we tell them about Jesus. We must remember that we are called to Serve Others in our community and elsewhere in the world. Going out into the world is a good thing, but you have to be called and willing to go and do it no matter what the cost may be.
Back to the coffee, some people put cream and sugar in their coffee to give it flavor, or they just go to Starbucks and get their coffee with some other type of flavor that you can not get elsewhere. We should be the flavor to the world because Jesus said "You are the salt of the earth"(Matthew 5:13) but salt can loose its taste after a while. The only way to keep the flavor in the salt is that we must stay close to Jesus. Useless salt should be thrown out because it is worthless to the world and can not regain its salty flavor. We should not become flavorless but flavorful.
I've come to notice that coffee these days has risen in prices. I mean just to get a small coffee at Starbucks its like $4 and some change depending on what you get. Although it tastes great you soon realize that Hey I just spent $4 on a cup of coffee, when I could have gotten it for free (cheaper) at home without the extra flavor. Why do we want to spend so much on a small cup of coffee but not spend much time with Jesus or spend much time telling others about Him.
Again I'll ask you what makes a good cup of coffee? Should we be like a black cup of coffee with no flavor or like a cup coffee from Starbucks with all the flavor you want? Jesus wants you to be flavorful for Him because if you are bland you will not get far with people in this world, especially when it comes to telling them about Jesus. If you are like the black cup of coffee; some people will accept you but others will not because you have no flavor to you. If you are the flavored coffee; you will be accepted by more people than you would if you were black coffee. Be flavorful and stand out from those who are not flavorful.
